This policy explains how Joblancer collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use joblancer.app. It is written in plain language. Please read it together with our Terms of Use and Cookie Notice.

1. Who we are

Joblancer operates the website joblancer.app, a job marketplace that connects candidates with employers. For the personal data described here, Joblancer decides why and how the data is used, so it is the data controller.

2. The data we collect

Account details

• Your email address and the Google account ID you use to sign in. We receive these when you sign in with Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
• Your role on Joblancer: candidate or employer.

Candidate profile

• Skills, work experience, location and other details you add to your profile.
• Your CV or resume, if you upload one.
• Your profile visibility setting, which controls who can find you.
• Applications you send, including any cover note you write.

Employer profile

• Company name, website, industry and the jobs you post.
• Requests you send to contact candidates, and the replies you receive.

Contact form

• When you send a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, country, subject and message.
• We send a 6-digit code to your email to confirm the address. We keep the time, IP address and device identifier of your messages for up to two days, to limit spam.
• Your message is delivered to our inbox and kept for as long as needed to answer it and for our records of support requests.

Technical data

• Your sign-in session, stored in your browser so you stay signed in.
• Basic server logs, including your IP address, used for security and to prevent abuse.

3. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

• create and run your account, and sign you in;
• show your profile, applications and job listings to the right people, according to your settings;
• let candidates and employers contact each other, when the candidate allows it;
• produce match scores and explanations (see section 4);
• keep the service secure, detect fraud and stop abuse;
• meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not send marketing emails at this time. If we ever offer marketing, we will ask for your separate consent first, and you can withdraw it at any time.

4. AI matching

Joblancer uses an AI service to compare candidate profiles with job listings and produce a match score and short explanation. To do this, the relevant parts of a candidate profile and a job listing are sent to OpenAI, our AI provider, for processing.

Match scores are suggestions to help people decide where to look. They are not a decision about whether anyone gets hired. Employers remain responsible for their own hiring decisions.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only in these cases:

• Other users: employers can see candidate information according to the candidate's visibility setting.
• Service providers that run Joblancer for us, under contracts that limit how they can use the data:
  • Cloudflare, for hosting, our database and file storage;
  • Google, for sign-in;
  • OpenAI, for AI matching.
• Legal reasons: when the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights.

6. Where your data is stored

Our infrastructure runs on Cloudflare and Google services. Some of this data may be stored or processed outside the United Arab Emirates, including in other countries where these providers operate. Where we transfer personal data outside the UAE, we aim to use providers and safeguards that the law allows.

7. How long we keep data

• Account and profile data: kept while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must keep it for legal reasons.
• CVs and resumes: deleted when you ask us to remove them, or when you ask us to delete your account.
• Server logs with IP addresses: kept for up to 30 days.
• Applications and contact requests: kept while the related account exists, so employers and candidates can see their history.

8. Your rights

Under UAE data protection law, you have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy;
• ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
• ask us to delete your data, and to delete your account;
• withdraw any consent you have given;
• object to or ask us to limit certain uses of your data.

To use these rights, email talk@joblancer.app from the address linked to your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will reply without undue delay.

9. Security and breaches

We protect personal data with encryption in transit, access controls, and limits on who can see what. Sign-in sessions are protected with signed tokens that expire. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in details safe.

If a personal data breach puts your data at risk, we will report it to the UAE Data Office and tell affected people as the law requires.

10. Age limit

Joblancer is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a young person has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Joblancer changes. When we make a significant change, we will show a notice on the site. The date at the top shows when the policy was last updated.
